GEM Maintenance

I just purchased a used GEM within the last two months. Absolutely love it and want to make sure I keep our GEM maintained in a manner that will keep it running for years to come. There is a grinding noise when the speed is increased...sometimes louder than others. Is this the govenor (??) trying to keep control of the speed or could something else be going on?


I've heard from several that there is someone in Loomis who services GEMS, but haven't been able to find anyone who knows his name or where he is located (other than Loomis). Does he make house calls or does he pick up the GEM to take to his shop?

Any advice is very much appreciated. I'm fairly new to the club and understand this is where I can bring my questions.
